The Kern County Board of Supervisors met today as scheduled for Tuesday’s January 7, 2025, Board Meeting. Supervisor Phillip Peters (District 1), Supervisor Chris Parlier (District 2), Supervisor Jeff Flores (District 3), Supervisor David Couch (District 4), and Chairwoman Leticia Perez (District 5) were in attendance. Meeting Highlights:
- Item No. 1 AM session:
- The Board honored Fourth District Supervisor David Couch for his numerous accomplishments as 2024 Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
- Item No. 6 AM session:
- The Board voted to proclaim January 2025 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in Kern County.
- Item No. 7 AM session:
- The Board voted to proclaim January 2025 as National Eligibility Workers Recognition Month.
- Item No. 24 AM session:
- The Board voted to approve the 2025 Chairman’s Committee Assignments.
- Items No. 26 – 28 AM session:
- The Board voted to approve agreements with The Open Door Network, Women’s Center High Desert, Inc., and Alpha House to provide shelter, education, counseling, and support services for families experiencing domestic violence through June of 2025.
- Item No. 29 AM session:
- The Board voted to approve an agreement with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools to provide youth development services for the Bridges Academy Program through June of 2025.
- This program works in partnership with Kern County Probation to promote job development for youth probationers.
- Item No. 36 AM session:
- The Board approved Kern County Public Health’s request to continue the local health emergency declared due to the potentially hazardous conditions that exist from the Borel Fire.
- Item No. 26 PM session:
- The Board voted to contribute $500 to the McFarland Recreation and Park District.
- Item No. 27 PM session:
- The Board voted to contribute $500 to the Children and Families Commission.
